Among my friends and acquaintances are many who were frightened to death from this movie. Why? Well, I really don't know. Probably because they haven't seen that much horror movies yet. This remake of the sixties classic (which I haven't seen yet) is just a mediocre haunted house movie - no more, no less.
The house itself looks absolutely stunning and is truly the highlight of the movie. The film's full of great ideas, terrific-looking ghosts and cool images, and the cast is also pretty ok (it's fun to see Monk in a horror movie ;-)
Sadly it's often too boring, slow and tedious. The story is nonsense, the special effects are overdone and for the most of the time, it's absolutely not - I repeat, NOT scary (unless you haven't seen that... well, you get the idea.).
