Definitely one of the greatest zomedies ever made. Not as amazing as "Shaun Of The Dead" but still absolutely fabulous with a fantastic cast (Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray...), an awesome script full of brilliantly hilarious dialogue and fresh ideas, great-looking zombies, wonderful gore and an excellent fairground-finale.

SCARECROWS
SCARECROWSAlternate Title:
Paratrooper / Paratroopers
USA, 1988
Director: William Wesley
9/10
It's a shame that this little gem is still unbelievably unknown because it's undoubtedly one of the best horror movies from the 80s. Unbelievably scary and tense, incredibly atmospheric, shot on eerie-looking locations. Full of terrific scares, brilliant-looking scarecrows, great kills and decent actors. I daresay that this is really a little masterpiece. Highly recommended!

KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE

Directors: The Chiodo Brothers
7/10
One helluva batshit insane 80s flick, undoubtedly one of the most entertaining horror-comedies and of course one of the most inventive, craziest and most bizarre clown movies ever made. Packed with weird shit like: creepy-looking space clowns, a circus tent spaceship, deadly popcorn, bodies in cotton candy cocoons, etc. etc.
A movie so freaked out and wacko, you have to see it to believe it!

NEEDFUL THINGS
NEEDFUL THINGSGerman Titles:
In einer kleinen Stadt / Needful Things - In einer kleinen Stadt
USA, 1993
Director: Fraser Clarke Heston
7/10
Splendid adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. Pretty tense and thrilling with a great cast (Max von Sydow, Ed Harris...), beautiful settings, wonderful atmosphere, some ingenious plot changes (the ending in here is far better than the book's ending) and the '2-women-kill-each-other-off'-scene is just amazing.
Recommended!

THE CROW
A fantastically impressive comic-adaptation, visually and atmospherically stunning, pretty tense and action-packed with a great story, a brilliant cast (Brandon Lee R.I.P.), a wonderful soundtrack and a bunch of outstanding settings. A modern classic.

THE CHANGELING
Very scary and frightening haunted house classic, extremely tense and atmospheric with a brilliant cast (George C. Scott - now that's what I call a brilliant actor!), some amazing camera work, a super-creepy house, a pretty great plot and a couple of scenes that nearly scared me to death (especially the séance and the toy ball scene). Simply excellent!

THE MUTATIONSAlternate Title:
The Freakmaker / Dr. of Evil
German Titles:
Das Labor des Graunes - The Freakmaker
UK, 1974
Director: Jack Cardiff
3/10
Dull and stupid British mad-scientist flick, tedious and slow, poorly written, with quite bad acting and cheesy effects. Some of the monsters look pretty fun and of course it's always nice to watch Donald Pleasence, but overall this film is just pointless and forgettable.

PANDORUM
An interesting and pretty entertaining sci-fi/horror/thriller in the vein of "Alien". The story is intelligent and well-conceived (including a mindblowing end twist), the special effects look terrific, it's suspenseful, tense and action-packed, and the alien creatures look brilliant.
Flaws: a bit tedious in the middle and many of the actoring performances are quite mediocre.

DOG SOLDIERS
A highly entertaining kinda-werewolf flick, very atmospheric and creepy, but also very humorous, fast-paced and action-packed with a superb cast, loads of wonderful-looking settings, tremendous-looking wolf-creatures and a fabulous body count. Fun!

DOOMSDAY
DOOMSDAYGerman Title:
Doomsday - Tag der Rache
UK, 2008
Director: Neil Marshall
7/10
A movie like a rollercoaster: you never know what's coming next.
"Doomsday" totally divided critics and audiences. On IMDB there are people who hate it with such a passion, it's incredible. Well, of course, the movie is completely messed up and you definitely don't get what you expect (I mean, in the beginning I thought that this is a zombie/epidemic film and suddenly it transformed into a hilarious Punkrock-version of Mad Max!!) - but apart from that it's fun, it's extremely fun. It's loud and action-packed, thrilling and very amusing. The cast is great, the soundtrack is brilliant, the settings, costumes and the punks' equipment looks fantastic and the camera work is often really stunning.
Lean back, grab a can of beer and don't take anything seriously. You'll like it, I promise!

The PREDATOR series
Absolutely brilliant action/SciFi/horror-masterpiece, and a personal alltime favorite. Extremely tense, action-packed and atmospheric, with astonishing special effects, great settings, a cool story, a brilliant score and Arnold Schwarzenegger in top form. An excellent must-see classic - and never forget: "If it bleeds, we can kill it."

PREDATOR 2
USA, 1990
Director: Stephen Hopkins
10/10
I admit: I am an idiot. I never had any interest in watching this sequel just because there's no Schwarzenegger in it. Oh boy, little did I know how great this movie really is. Seriously, it totally blew me away! A badass sequel with a badass cast (Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Bill Paxton...), highly entertaining, fast-paced and action-packed with amazing special effects, a brilliant script and pretty amusing dialogue. One of the very few sequels which are as good as the original.

PREDATORS
USA, 2010
Director: Nimród Antal
6/10
An entertaining but unfortunately pretty disappointing quasi-sequel that can't hold a candle to its fabulous predecessors. Starts out very thrilling and interesting in the first third, gets too slow and lengthy in the second and in the third third... well, the last third is quite ok but in no way impressing.
The cast is a bit mediocre: some of the performances are just brilliant (Louis Ozawa Changchien, Laurence Fishburne...), some are just lame (Adrien Brody, Alice Braga...).
The Predators look absolutely fantastic, the soundtrack is great and the dialogue is decent with some really funny one-liners.
The effects are ok but there was way too much cheap-looking CGI. The script is too slow-paced and the movie is too reminiscent of Part 1. Not enough tension, not enough suspense.
Overall, an ok movie but sadly nothing special or outstanding. Could have been much better with a more fast-paced script and a better cast.
