3/10

"Monstroid", a goofy piece of low-budget monster-schlock about a Loch-Ness-lookalike rubber-creature that 'terrorizes' a village in Colombia. The movie is bad, really bad, but is has its moments that made me enjoy it a bit.

For the greater part it's painfully boring with too many tedious and tiresome sequences that bored me to death. The characters are all one-dimensional and cliché-ridden idiots, the plot is completely uninteresting and the soundtrack is pretty dull.

At least, there are a few decent actors in here (John Carradine and James Mitchum, son of Robert Mitchum) and the monster looks so ridiculous, I laughed my ass off whenever it appeared on the screen. Incredibly tacky, incredibly cheesy, incredibly funny - highly recommended to fans of similar rubbish like "Hydra a.k.a. The Sea Serpent". I'm lookin' at you, Brian ;-)

  1. Yeah, this is a "so-bad-it's-good" type movie, but not one in my opinion that can be fully enjoyed with a solitary viewing, thanks to those loooong slow stretches. This one would be PERFECT for a group viewing, so any number of conversations can fill in during the dead spots, and leave what fun cheesy moments the movie has ripe for enjoyment by all! Nice review, MM!

I agree, like Manos or Birdemic, this is something best enjoyed with a couple of friends. It's no Troll 2 but it's definitely something pretty enjoyable :)
