After the hilarious horror-spoof "The Code", director Mark Blitch returns with his 2nd short film "Take A Hike", a non-horror comedy about a young guy who takes his girlfriend's father on a camping trip into the woods to ask him the
"daunting question".
"daunting question".
Predictable and a bit too sappy in the ending, but overall wonderfully entertaining due to the excellent performances of Todd Terry (not the house-DJ) and Taylor James Brandt (who were also the leads in "The Code").
Cinematography and editing are once again marvellous, the folky soundtrack suits the beautiful forest locations perfectly, and there are a few dialogue lines that made me laugh hard (e.g. "You're telling me that you sucked on my leg for no medical reason?").
Overall, a well-made and great looking short. Bring on the next one, Mark!

I'll have to check this one out!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's wrong with me, but I can't stand short. For me, it's impossible to tell a great story in 15 minutes or so.

ReplyDeleteDo it!
@George:
I think it often works better in 15 minutes than in 90-100 minutes. Check this one out, I know you'd enjoy it.
