HIDDEN
Alternate Title:
Hidden 3D
Italy / Canada, 2011
Director: Antoine Thomas
(as M.R.)
5/10
"Hidden" is a mildly entertaining b-movie that I actually enjoyed a lot more than expected. It's far from being a good horror movie, but it's definitely better than most of the reviews say.
Ok, the acting is weak and most of the characters are dumb and/or annoying douchebags, the score is generic, the CGI looks cheap, the dialogue sucks and the ending is a huge disappointment.

As ridculous as the plot may sound (scientist materializes addictions in the form of bloodhungry children), I thought it's quite original and interesting, and in some weird kinda way it reminded me a bit of David Cronenberg's "The Brood".
Many of the monastery / treatment center sets look pretty cool, there's loads of surprisingly thrilling scenes and a few nice jump scares, and due to the tight pacing and the short runtime (about 76 minutes), the movie passes very quickly.

Still, I think that "Hidden" is a fairly decent film. I've seen worse.

Sounds a bit too much like a Brood rip...think I'll skip it.
ReplyDeleteSaw this in Wal Mart yesterday. I bought THE INNKEEPERS instead, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'll watch this. It looks decent enough. :)
ReplyDelete@Craig:
ReplyDeleteIt's obviously no Cronenberg, but it's fairly decent.
@Brian:
LOL Innkeepers is a better-made, better-looking movie but... yeah, I'd say I enjoyed it about as much as I enjoyed Hidden :)
@Jen:
Go, see it. Interested in what you think about it.
I couldn't even finish watching this piece of crap. I hated it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, in my book it's a sin not to finish a movie - doesn't matter how bad it is :)
