At the 40minute mark, when director/writer/producer Kipp Tribble, who also acts as a detective here, drops the line: "Well, I am going to die of boredom here."... um, well... this line sums up the movie perfectly :-)
"Coffin" is a terribly boring, terribly tiresome run-of-the-mill crime-thriller that looks and feels as if it's a forgotten made-for-TV movie from the 90s.

What looks at first like some shabby "Buried" ripoff, is actually a lousy and awfully unoriginal thriller-rehash of "Saw 1" & "Saw 2", including a bland, predictable story, tons of stupid plot points and an oh-so-surprising plot twist.
The whole thing is indescribably lame and tedious, thanks to the super-weak direction and a crappy script. Every character is either a cardboard cut-out or just plain unlikable. The look of the movie is extremely cheap (did they really spend $600.000 on this?), the soundtrack is as appealing as elevator muzak, and Johnny Alonso's performance as tricky villain "Trick" (sic!) is... um, I'd say this is the most laughable, most un-appalling movie villain since Udo Kier's Picasso Killer in "Fall Down Dead".
There are some ok acting performances (Sunny Doench, Bruce Davison), a few really cool shots of L.A. by night and a few mildly tense scenes in the last third - but overall, "Coffin" is just bad.

Thanks to Anthony Greene for providing me with a screener.

Sure doesn't sound good, I must say. Skipping!
